Orchids + Weddings

Sometimes all you need is a single orchid branch submerged in water to make a statement, a piece of art as your centrepiece. Orchids are beautiful. Their shape and color are visual candy. You can wear them in your hair, use them in your bouquet, incorporate them in your centrepieces or your jewelry.

Recently a friend from jr. high/high school was married in Hawaii and she chose to use white orchids throughout her wedding and it was absolutely stunning. The single orchid in her hair as she walked down the isle was the perfect compliment to the beach setting.

Making a statement with names!

Check out interesting facts about peonies:

Hot Pink
A real wedding feature on my favorite wedding blog. www.greenweddingshoes.blogspot.com really captures the vibrancy and color of pretty pink peonies.

Check out the write up and many more pictures from the wedding on greenweddingshoes.

I also love love this centrepiece by Dandelion Ranch. It blows my mind how beautiful, yet architectural, but at the same time free flowing the arrangement is. Love it!!!

My dear friend Maristela had her wedding a couple of years ago. Her wedding was actually on Korcula (the island I cannot stop talking about) and from the pictures it was a day filled with fun and dancing. My cousin Kristina was one of the bridesmaids. The girls looked absolutely stunning.

Key to my Heart

Holding an antique key in my hand, the key to my greatgrandmother's home on the island of Korcula, Croatia takes me back to my childhood. Entering the orange door that features two windows with iron cast designs in the Arneri Palace made me feel like I lived in an era far far ago. Running up the marble steps to reach the second story, only to run up the last flight of wooden stairs on all fours and pretend to be a kitty. My greatgrandmother, whom I'm named after, would always play along and yell as she heard the meows...How did a kitty get inside the house?  Where is this little kitten? Those memories I will cherish forever. So much so that when I first returned at the age of 16, a few years after she passed away at 98 years of age, I got on all fours and meowed. I felt at home.

Antiquity have always intrigued me. The artifacts felt heavy in my hands, heavy with love that carved/cast/molded them. Antique keys feel as if they belong to another time, a time where romance and chilverly live on. Where knights actually rescue their princesses from dangerous dragons, or at least write love letters marked with their singlet. Here are a few ideas on how to incporate an antique key into your wedding day.

Tiffany&Co. came out with a key pendent necklace not too long ago. They have many options of shapes and sizes, along with metals and varieties to choose from. Price range is from a couple of hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars (depends on the number&size od diamonds) that you can choose from. Currently they're advetising it as the perfect gift for Valentine's Day, however I think it makes a lovely wedding gift from a husband to be to his future wife, or even a bridesmaids gift.that all the girls can wear on your special day.

Yellow and White Mood Board

My best friend decided to go with the yellow and white color scheme. I think her wedding will be more of whites and creams with just slight yellow accents, but the canary yellow just appealed to me too much not to make it the predominant color in this mood board.

Sites for Reference

Two sites I frequent to get ideas for wedding fashions and for everything and anything wedding related are www.marthastewartweddings.com and www.instyleweddings.com.

Martha is the quintessential queen of all things wedding. Signing up for her daily email with wedding ideas is a great way to get your creative juices going and apply some of those ideas to your own wedding. Not only that, you can find how to videos (for example: how to make your own bouquet) online.

While, on the other hand i frequent InStyle's website more for wedding dress and brides maid dress ideas and pictures from celebrity weddings. If they feature a dress by a particular designer I haven't heard of it leads me to find their official site and go through their entire dress collection. The more exposure, the more I am aware of what's out there and what i love.
